Tales of the bizarre. My outdoor motion sensing security light is now working after not working for 6 months?
I wired this thing last summer and it worked fine all summer until fall when it started raining.
I did a fair job of sealing the conduit with teflon tape and pvc glue (the purple stuff) and so I don't think its a water issue.
But the damned thing stopped working last November and I thought the wiring had come undone, but apparently that's fine because now the light is working again.
When it wasnt working, it could be turned on for TEST mode, but the motion sensor never activated the light on. Now all of a sudden it works fine.
Any ideas??
No use worrying about why it failed, since it now works. There are any number of reasons why it may have failed, from a loose wiring connection, or being left in the test position, even burnt out light bulbs.
I would say replace it anyway, since they aren't that expensive and you have some question about the reliability of the fixture.
