The Civil Rights Movement is now remembered as a long-lost era, which came to an end along with the idealism of the 1960s. In Dark Days, Bright Nights, acclaimed scholar Peniel E. Joseph puts this pat assessment to the test, showing the 60s—particularly the tumultuous period after the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act—to be the catalyst of a movement that culminated in the inauguration of Barack Obama...

how can i spend my night of power while having blood after child birth?

i just had a baby alhamdulilah! i was unable to fast all of the Ramadan thus far now the night of power is here and i don't know how to spend it i know i will listen to Quran online maybe read Quran online ask for what i need and what i want. what else can i do during night of power while having blood from child birth?

Assalaam Alaikum
Mubarak!!

Qur’an and make dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and du`a’ (supplication), though they are forbidden from fasting, performing Salah (prayer) and touching the Mushaf (the Arabic text itself), In this way, they still have the opportunity to observe Laylatul-Qadr (the Night of Power) by reciting the Qur’an and making dhikr.

We should not feel in anyway, saddened at all. Why should we feel sad? Even a little bit, when Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) prescribed this matter upon them? This is a very important matter. They shouldn’t have any kind of objection what so ever. They are not going to be deprived of anything that Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) bestowed of his favors because of this. He is the one who commanded her to refrain from prayers. He is the one who commanded her to refrain from fasting.

The menstruating believing woman can do everything to avail the rewards of ‘Layla-tul-Qadr’, except she cannot:

Pray any salaah or prayers

Cannot touch and read the Glorious Quran. The principle is that things are allowed and permitted unless there is evidence to the contrary. There is no such evidence to say that a menstruating woman is not allowed to recite Qur’aan. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: “There is no clear, saheeh text to indicate that a menstruating woman is forbidden to recite Qur’aan… It is known that women used to menstruate at the time of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and he did not forbid them to recite Qur’aan, or to remember Allaah (dhikr) and offer du’aa’.”

Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, commands (Muslims) to recite Qur’aan. He praises the one who does so, and promises him (or her) a great reward. No one is excluded from this except the one concerning whom there is solid evidence (daleel), and there is no such evidence in the case of menstruating women, as stated above.

But if she wishes, she can spend the night in remembering, praising, and glorifying Allah Subhanah. She can also recite the Quran from her memory, and most important of all, she can make as many supplications to the Merciful and Benevolent Lord as she wishes to do.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 1474 Narrated by An-Nu'man ibn Bashir

The Prophet (saws) said: “Supplication (du'a') is (itself) worship.”

If the intention and ardent desire of the believing woman is to worship her Merciful Lord during this Great Night, but due to a valid and natural reason she cannot pray the salaah or recite the Quran as much as she would like to; she should rest assured that her Lord is well aware of her condition and He will give her a full reward for her noble intentions.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.1 Narrated by Umar bin Al Khattab

I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions, and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended."
